John Blair Lodge No. 187 actively participates in the Virginia Child Identification Program (VACHIP).

The Virginia Child ID Program delivers a comprehensive child identification and protection tool designed to give families a measure of protection against the ever increasing problem of missing children. The VACHIP is provided free of charge by the Freemasons of Virginia.

All identifying items generated at VACHIP events are placed in a pack and given to the parent or guardian to take home for safe keeping. If a child becomes missing, the parent or guardian can provide the child ID pack to law enforcement to aid in recovery and identification. The Virginia Freemasons keep nothing but the permission form signed by the parent prior to participation in the event.

To date, the program has held 778 VACHIP events and has provided 35,026 children with identification packets. It is our sincere hope that no family will ever need the resources provided in our packets. However, if the need should arise, we believe the information from our program will be instrumental to law enforcement agencies in recovering missing children.

For more information, or to schedule an event, visit the VACHIP website, or contact John Blair Lodge’s Child ID Program Committee.
